This section explains how to manage the various "resources". In the left sidebar of D5 Render, the various "resources" are displayed in the form of a list. The details of how to manage them are divided into four documents.

Imported List

In the scene project, the imported models will be automatically added to the "Imported" list.

Select Menu -> File -> Import, or click the "Import" button from the navigation bar to select the model to be imported into the scene from the local folder. When importing, you can select multiple model files to import at the same time.

The list will show the import progress and status of the model. After successful import, click to place it in the scene.

The right-click menu supports removing the imported models from the list.

Scene List

Create New Scene

In the scene list, you can click the "Add Scene" button to save the view in the current screen, or you can use the shortcut keys Alt + V .

When a scene is created, both the exterior lighting information of the current scene and the color and effects information in post are recorded. That is, each different scene can correspond to different parameters.

Animation tabs created in SketchUp are automatically added to D5's scene list when you create a project by "Open" it.

Scene shot setup

When multiple shots are saved in the scene list, we can click one of them to switch shots. You can also click the "Rename", "Update Scene" and "Delete" buttons adjust the currently saved "shot".

Transition animation

It is used to set whether the transition animation is displayed while the camera is switching.

Cameras Switch Only

When Cameras Switch Only is on, the last adjusted exterior and post parameters are always applied when the camera is switched. When the camera is switching, D5 reads the camera position information of the target scene and the current lighting and post parameters.

Copy / Paste Parameter

It will take the environment and post parameters from the scene and apply them to a different scene. After copying and clicking paste, the parameters are immediately applied.

Update scene shots

Scene shots will record the environment, post, and the current object's hidden state information when created. When the environment and post parameters are modified, the parameters need to be updated.

A purple dot indicating that it has been successfully updated.

Layer Management

A Layer list is added on the left sidebar in order to classify and manage scene resources more quickly.

Layer Activation Usage

There will always be a default layer in the scene. Click the "+" to create a new layer. After a layer is selected, a "✔" will be displayed in front of the layer, indicating that the current layer is active, and newly added objects will belong to it. Only one layer can be active at a time. An object's current layer can be viewed and edited on the right sidebar Inspector. To change the layer of an object, simply switch in the drop-down option.

A new filter called Active Layer is added to the Object List, and it can be used to filter out objects in the current layer.

Locking and hiding of layers

Layers support Lock and Hide functions. When a layer is locked, all objects in the layer are locked. All objects in the hidden layer will also be hidden, and the objects newly added to the layer will also be hidden immediately. In the right-click menu of a layer, click "Select all objects" to select all items in it; Click "Rename" to change the layer name; Click "Delete" to delete the current layer and all objects in it.

Layer Deletion

It should be noted that Delete button will delete the current layer and all objects in it. If you want to keep the objects in the layer, you need to right-click the layer, select all and move them to other layers before deleting the layer.

Object List

The models, lights, particles and other resources placed in the scene are displayed in the list, and support shortcut key operations.

Set the resource information in the list via the right-click menu option.

Lock and Unlock

Locked and unlocked are the two most commonly used states in the list. For models, they cannot be selected in the scene after locking and cannot be moved, rotated, scaled, etc. They can only be saved to the Local Asset Library, exported or updated and replaced after being selected in the list.

After locking the model, you can use the mouse to directly select the material for editing, instead of using the "Material Picker".

After unlocking the model, you can make adjustments to the model in the scene. To select the material of the model, use the "Material Picker" tool.

Multiple selection and Grouping

In the list, use the Ctrl key or the Shift key to multi-select entries in the list. In a scene, use the Ctrl key to click on a different model or light source to achieve multiple selection, or hold Ctrl and drag the mouse to select multiple objects. Use Ctrl + G to group them.

When multiple selections or groups of entries are of different types, they can be moved and rotated together. When multiple selections or groups of entries are of the same kind (e.g., 5 spotlight sources are selected at the same time), the parameters can be adjusted at the same time.

The elements in the list support free dragging and sorting. You can first create groups according to certain rules and then drag models into them.

Double-click in the scene to directly select the elements in the group for editing.

You can create a new group by right-clicking on a blank space in the list. The group structure supports up to 3 levels of nesting.

Filter & Search

You can use the filter function of the list to display different categories of models in the scene, such as vegetation, characters, vehicles or imported models separately. After filtering, only the filtered categories can be selected in the main scene, other category models cannot be selected.

Search for entries in the list based on keywords and the search results will be highlighted.

Drs

Click "Menu" -> File -> Save to save your model as a project file, which can be easily opened and viewed again. You can choose any location to store your project files. As with other common file data, you can manage your D5 Render project files locally, or package them up, copy them to other devices, and send them to others.

*.drs file is a D5 Render-specific format and is only supported to be opened by D5 Render. In addition to the *.drs file, the project file contains other folders that are necessary project files.

*.drs file can be opened directly by double-clicking to launch D5 Render directly, or the .drs project file can be opened via the Open option on the Welcome page after launching D5 Render.

When packing or copying project files, please copy all the file data under the project file folder, including drs, in order to use it properly in D5 Render. Otherwise, the file will be corrupted and cannot be opened or opened without the project file.
