Why does the scene file fail to open/crash/run out of memory/report a TDR error?

Modified on Sun, 27 Apr at 2:28 AM

Hello, when encountering this issue, please begin by testing whether you can successfully run the empty or demo scenes.

- If the same problem persists in the empty or demo scenes

It may indicate a hardware issue or an abnormal computer environment. For further details, please refer to the article: Why does my D5 application/program crash? If TDR errors occur with lighter or multiple files, please consult the guide: Why prompt ‘Low TDR Value is detected'?

- If the issue (such as crash/run out of memory/report a TDR error) occurs only in the current project or specific scene files

It is likely due to the files being too heavy and consuming excessive video memory, exceeding the capacity of your device. To resolve this, consider reducing and optimizing your file. Please refer to the guidance below:

  • Please monitor the Vram and Ram usage when running this specific scene (open Task Manager - Performance)

If the dedicated GPU memory usage has reached 80% and above when running the current scene, the core advantage of the graphics card will decrease and be in an unstable state (D5 may lag/render slower/pop-up error/crash/flashback, etc.).

  • If you are currently unable to access the file, you may consider deleting the downloaded assets (the 'f2' folder under your WorkSpace path).
This can help reduce VRAM usage when opening the scene and will allow you to access the file again. However, before updating your assets, make sure to remove some of the scene resources first—especially terrain grass, scatter, or procedurally generated vine assets, as these consume a significant amount of resources. This will help prevent the same issue from occurring after the update.
