Why do models become misaligned after import/replacement/update?

Modified on Sun, 27 Apr at 4:27 AM

Hello,

As a first troubleshooting step for model and D5 asset misalignment, please check the object list on the left for any existing copies of your model file. These might be hidden or located far from the origin.

A common cause of this misalignment is importing the same model multiple times. When you add D5 assets, they are placed according to the position of the first model import. If you import the model again, it might not be in the exact same spot, causing the assets to appear misaligned.

- Direct Import to D5 Render

If the overall range (bounding box) of the model is changed after replacement, the model will be misaligned. This will only happen if the model is imported directly. To avoid this problem, please make sure you perform the ‘Sync Coordinates’ after the first import of the model.

- Use D5 Plug-ins workflow

There will be no misalignment issues when using sync plugins as workflow.

Note:

  • It is recommended to use real-time rendering workflow (D5 plug-ins).
  • It is not recommended to mixed use both direct reading(import) and sync(D5 plug-ins) workflows.
